Ingredients
Scale
The beauty of this drink lies in its simplicity, much like the afternoon teas my mum and I enjoyed, with scones fresh from the oven and a dollop of clotted cream. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 3 cups whole milk (or a dairy-free alternative like almond milk for a lighter version)
- 1/4 cup malted milk powder
- 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
As with all good things, patience and a gentle touch are key. Here’s how you can bring this comforting drink to life:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the milk and malted milk powder. Whisk gently over medium heat until the powder is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add honey, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Continue to whisk until everything is well combined and the mixture is warm but not boiling, around 5 minutes.
- Once warmed through, remove from heat. Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary, adding a bit more honey or cinnamon to suit your preferences.
- Pour into your favorite mug, the kind that fits perfectly in your hands, and enjoy while still warm. Optionally, you can top with a sprinkle of cinnamon for that extra touch of warmth.
