Ingredients
Scale
- 500g ground beef
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 stalk celery, diced
- 400g can of chopped tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for frying
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat a splash of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, sautéing until they’re soft and fragrant.
- Increase the heat slightly and add the ground beef. Cook until it’s browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks. My mum always said a wooden spoon adds a touch of love.
- Add the carrot and celery, stirring for another 5 minutes until they’re just tender.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and basil. Season with salt and pepper.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving. It’s like adding a sprinkle of sunshine to your dish.
