Ingredients
Scale
- 500g ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 can (400g) chopped tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- A pinch of cinnamon (because, naturally)
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon (my mum’s favorite tool), until it’s browned all over.
- Stir in the bell pepper, allowing it to soften slightly before adding the chopped tomatoes and tomato paste.
- Sprinkle in the cumin, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and that magical pinch of cinnamon. Stir well to combine all the flavors.
- Allow the mixture to simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the flavors meld beautifully.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
