Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 ounces of egg noodles
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
If you fancy a bit of a twist, swap the ground beef for chicken or tofu, or toss in some sliced mushrooms for an earthy note. As mum always said, a recipe is but a canvas for your culinary creativity.
Instructions
- Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, cooking until browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Push the beef to one side of the pan and add the onion and garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant, roughly 2 minutes.
- Add the bell pepper and broccoli, stirring occasionally, until tender-crisp, about 4 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, and brown sugar. Pour the mixture over the beef and vegetables, stirring to coat everything evenly.
- Add the cooked noodles to the skillet, tossing gently to combine all ingredients. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
As you stir, let the aromas transport you to a place of culinary nostalgia, where every ingredient plays a role in crafting a memory worth savoring.
