Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 4 green onions, sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Increase the heat to medium-high, add the ground beef, and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
- Once the beef is browned, reduce the heat to medium and stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the sliced green onions and sesame seeds, reserving some for garnish.
- Serve the ground beef mixture over a bed of warm, fluffy rice and sprinkle with additional green onions and sesame seeds for a touch of color and flavor.
