Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 cup frozen peas and carrots mix
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (trust me on this one!)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 cups cooked pasta (such as macaroni or penne)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until they turn translucent and fill your kitchen with their savory aroma.
- Stir in the ground beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned, then drain any excess fat.
- Add the bell pepper, frozen peas and carrots, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together beautifully.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the beef mixture, stirring to ensure an even distribution of ingredients.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top, followed by the breadcrumbs for a delightful crunch.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden, and your home is filled with the comforting smell of a meal well-loved.
- Let it cool slightly before serving. Pair it with a simple green salad and perhaps a slice of crusty bread for the ultimate comfort meal.
